7月女嬰頭大如足球！ 善心醫生緊急抽5升水救命
在巴基斯坦的阿伯塔巴德，7個月大的女嬰Amna Noor因患腦積水，頭部達到了足球大小，無法正常進食和睡覺。女嬰出生時一切正常，但頭部卻逐漸以異常的速度增長，現在她的頭圍已經達到了101厘米，被診斷患有腦積水。有數據顯示，每1000名嬰兒中就有一人患有腦積水，如果患者腦中的積液壓迫腦幹，就可能會危及生命。
Amna的母親Nisa說，醫生告訴他們只能通過手術進行治療，但Amna還太小，需要再等幾個月。由於頭部過大，Amna無法移動，也不能正常進食和睡覺。Nisa甚至無法一個人給女兒換尿布，需要丈夫或其他家庭成員的幫助。手術將花費近1900英鎊(約7萬7千元台幣)，但女嬰父母經濟能力不好，遲遲無法進行手術。幸好醫院一位善心醫生一位善心醫生，表示願意免費開這個刀，僅收手術時的藥品、耗材費用900英鎊(約3萬6千元台幣)。

報道稱，據相關數據統計，世界上每1000名新生嬰兒中就有1人患腦積水，這使嬰兒頭髮稀少、額部向前突出、眶頂受壓向下，致鞏膜上部露白，顱骨骨縫分離，頭皮靜脈擴張。患了這種病，輕者也使用藥物治療，重者則需要進行腦室分流手術，但之後也可能出現一些併發症，即使分流術效果良好，也可能影響智力發育。
